Project Description
The new passenger terminal of Marco Polo Airport in Tessera (Venice) is a prestigious city gateway, with innovative materials and a large retail space.
The project concerns the extension of the arrivals and departures halls of the existing terminal for a total surface of about 11.500 m² and the realisation of a glazed cover, 250 m long and 25 m wide, at departures level.
The new design provides the airport with an extended capacity of 15 million passengers a year while responding to the lagoon’s very fragile ecosystem and Venice’s historical center.
Moreover, the new dock and the new pedestrian “Moving Walkway” of Marco Polo Airport in Tessera have been certified LEED Gold 2009 for New Construction.
The project proposal fills the gap between building implementations on the landside areas and the airside area enlargement, with the construction of two new wings on both sides of the front terminal for a total of 100.000 m².
