Luxconnect is one of the main actors in providing data management facilities and capacities to external clients. It operators multiple Datacenters and optical fiber connectivity throughout Luxembourg and put, with other actors, the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg on the map of internet services.
LuxConnect’s unique concept of “data center infrastructure as a service” translates into a highly reliable and flexible service offering, particularly for IT integrators and Telco's. Backed by 14,700 m² of rack space in four state-of-the art data centers, Luxconnect provides high-end facilities to empower data center business. It is best of engineering & technology combined with next generation environmental solutions.
GL&Ass proceeded, partly with other partners, to the design of in total 5 datacenters in different regions of Luxembourg some of which were designed as TIER IV.
The Datacenter Bissen-Roost is a « Green Datacenter » and is cooled indirectly from waste heat provided by a neighboring « Thermal Wood Waste burning facility ». Absorption chillers transform the heat into cold water to cool down the server rooms.
The project was initially designed in 2013 and was subject to an extension proceeded in 2021 for hosting the European Supercomputer Meluxina.
Meluxina is one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe. The new hardware is capable of processing large volumes of data, carrying out thousands of billions of operations per second. Meluxina supercomputer will has a calculating power of 10 petaflops - literally ten million billion operations per second, a number that looks like this: 10,000,000,000,000,000. MeluXina's performance should be able to reach the top 50 of the world ranking of the 500 most performant supercomputers.
