Project Description

A historic building from 1899 has undergone a major transformation, where the entire interior structure has been replaced while preserving the original facades and tower. The project introduces a new internal structural system and reprograms the building for retail and commercial use. The result is a contemporary building rooted in its historic context.

Our Input
Søren Jensen acted as engineering sub-consultant, providing engineering design and site supervision across all disciplines. The scope included project management and close technical coordination with architects and contractors to ensure successful integration of new structural solutions within the preserved building envelope.

Key Features
A unique in-situ cast ribbed concrete structure inspired by Pier Luigi Nervi, developed using computational design and parametric modelling. Careful restoration of facades and the copper tower combined with high circularity, including reuse and recycling of materials such as copper and timber.
