NDR House 24, Hamburg

GermanyOffices and Workplace

Project Description

The new “House 24” building for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in Hamburg-Lokstedt is a modern editorial and production building facility that combines office space with highly specialised studio areas. With a total floor area of around 11,300 m² and approximately 600 workplaces, it serves as a central hub for cross-media production across TV, radio, and online platforms. Designed by gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner, the building also marks the entrance to the expanded NDR campus.

Our Input
ZWP Ingenieur-AG provided full MEP design and site supervision, including HVAC, electrical engineering, communication systems and building automation. The building follows a consistent low-tech approach aimed at reducing energy consumption to a necessary minimum. Intelligent use of daylight and natural ventilation in office areas minimizes the need for technical systems. In addition, resource-efficient and recyclable materials are used throughout. The result is a sustainable media building that combines ecological responsibility with the functional demands of modern production environments.

Key Features
The project combines energy-efficient low-tech solutions in the office areas with complex high-tech building services for studios and control rooms. Special requirements in terms of acoustics, climate control, and operational reliability have been carefully addressed, enabling a flexible and future-proof media building.
