Project Description
This hyperscale facility near London Heathrow delivers 54 MW of capacity and is designed around high-efficiency, low-water cooling solutions. The building integrates a sophisticated evaporative cooling system supported by on-site water treatment and recovery. A central photovoltaic array contributes renewable energy to help offset the everyday electrical demand of the office areas.
Our Input
Ethos provides the full mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering design for the development, working closely with the project team to ensure resilient, efficient and maintainable systems throughout.
Key Features
Mechanical Systems Reviewed: High-efficiency evaporative cooling for the data halls, reducing reliance on mains water during peak conditions. Rainwater harvesting and seasonal storage, with recovered water treated and reused to support the cooling process. DX cooling for electrical rooms. Comprehensive ventilation and humidity control across technical and occupied spaces. Building Management System for continuous monitoring and optimisation. Full domestic water, soil and waste, fire protection, suppression, and leak detection services.
Electrical Systems Reviewed: Redundant utility connections providing resilience for critical operations. Independent medium-voltage distribution networks designed for reliability and maintainability. Standby generation, bulk fuel storage, and resilient distribution pathways. TN-C/TN-S earthing and complete lightning protection. UPS power distribution supporting all critical equipment. EPMS, generator controls, and site-wide switching systems for monitoring and operational management. Integrated security systems, fire detection and alarm, and structured cabling throughout.
