Project Description
Renovation and new construction for the refurbishment of the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam.
Our Input
Smits van Burgst's activities involve supplying technical information to the installation early in the planning process in order to determine the feasibility of the project and the frameworks. Subsequently, in the design phase, the capacity calculations were made and the installation concepts were elaborated.
The installation was further elaborated with the contractor in a construction team to a ready-to-execute design. In this phase, Smits van Burgst monitored the technical implementation, scope and installation concepts, as well as the financial side.
Key Features
The basis of the project is the restructuring of the entrance to the Heineken Experience in order to be able to receive the growing number of visitors in the building (instead of having them wait in line outside). It’s not that Heineken now want to have 2 million visitors a year, but more to give a better and safer welcome to the number of guests that has grown over the years.
For this purpose, a new entrance hall will be built on the site of the existing horse stable and the existing, monumental entrance will be adapted. The logistics center will also be adapted, a roof terrace will be created that will be accessed by means of a new lift and the old Moutzolder will be renovated.
During the construction, the biggest challenge was keeping the experience open to the public. This has been achieved through creativity and a constructive attitude of the parties involved.
