Civil Works Depot

Project description

A modern depot for the local government’s civil works department has been designed on the old site, which was originally a 1950s farmhouse. Apart from the general lack of space, the building fabric was poor, energy consumption was high, and the rooms for the staff did not meet the requirements for contemporary workplaces. The new building is constructed out of timber and its design is inspired by local agricultural and commercial buildings. Under a common roof, the building is divided into three main functions: Administration, workshops and parking garage, with storage rooms attached. With the depot’s new building, appropriate spatial conditions were created for the operation of the Werkhof Kreis 3 in Sissach with room for future needs.
