Project Description
Since 2021, we at Smits van Burgst have been involved in a major project commissioned by the facilities team of RAI Amsterdam, aimed at making the lighting in the exhibition complex more sustainable. The complex consists of a large number of extensive exhibition halls, supporting offices, restaurants and parking facilities.
Our Input
For the exhibitions halls, this project includes replacing more than 4500 fluorescent tubes by energy-efficient LED fixtures, equipped with a central and locally controlled lighting control system. Especially the modifications to the Europa Hall (Hall 1, as seen in the picture), a national monument with a characteristic round roof, pose a special challenge. In addition to the lightning, we are renewing various outdated distribution systems and prepare them for the future by installing intermediate meters for better insight into energy consumption. For a more sustainable energy supply for the lamps, solar panels are being installed on the roofs of the halls.
Key Features
Currently, we are engaged in the supervision of the implementation, with approximately 2,500 of the 4,500 fluorescent lamps already replaced. We look forward to the final result and the positive impact this project will have on the environment and the energy supply of the RAI.
