Mechanical & Electrical Engineering including BIM Level 2, acoustics, utilities and glare analysis

Project Size

£52M Build Cost

Our automotive sector development client has been rolling out a large portfolio of new build and refurbishment projects   throughout the UK for a number of brands which we have supported them on. This project delivered the largest Mercedes   Benz showroom, workshops and body centre in Europe through two phases and has become very popular over a short   period of being operational.

Input from acquisition of the site through to commissioning and handover of both phases of the scheme was provided in compliance with the clients BIM Level 2 agenda which provided a useful asset management tool. Resolution of utilities including negotiation for diversion of a high voltage electricity main crossing the site was key to adding value to the site and unlocking the development potential. Keeping the mechanical and electrical engineering systems design solutions current with the changing branding guidelines was challenging and required increased collaboration amongst the project team.

Unique / Key Features

The building incorporates a heavily glazed ‘shop front’ façade which gave cause for concern from the local highways department due to perceived glare issues created by the façade. Complex glare modelling was undertaken as part of the M&E design simulations which enabled amendment of the façade design to remove any danger to passing motorists from glare propagation.
